Written and illustrated for newly formed charity, Over & Above Africa, my first children's book tells the story of a girl who dreams of becoming a woman ranger. This actual group of armed rangers, in North East Zimbabwe, are frontline in the fight against wildlife poaching. The story is of city girl Wilma, who learns about the collective nouns of animal groups from her friends at the zoo; the animals who dream of their life in the wild, and her zoo keeper mentor. Proceeds of the book will ultimately go to the charity, whose aim is to provide the drones needed for surveillance for the women rangers. I'm shooting a short film in Africa in September to aid this cause. Here are a few pages.
